What's new in QTR, newest first.
QTR for Mac
MacVersion 0.2.0
- QTR for Mac is out: your desk in its own window.
- You sign in through your browser, and the app keeps itself up to date.
- A header runs across the top of the window with the quarter, your desk's name, search, Cards, notifications and you.
- The dock goes away in the Mac app, so the desk gets the whole window.
A tidier desk
Desk
- Two desks to start from: Daily work, for your day, and Notes, for writing. The old "Daily execution" desk is now "Daily work".
- Auto-arrange fits your cards on one screen, and a new card slides into the next free spot.
- Pin a card to the left or right edge of the window, or maximize it edge to edge.
- Task descriptions are rich text now.
- Cards you move are saved on their own after a moment.
- Loading and signing in happen on the desk's own olive, with the QTR mark instead of a spinner.
- A short network drop while QTR loads no longer signs you out.
- Your account menu now links to the Mac and iPhone apps.
Search everything, invite people by name, and Jot on TestFlight
Desk
- Search your tasks, goals, notes, jots, lists and desks with ⌘K or /. Results open right on the desk.
- When you share something, QTR suggests people you already work with, so you can invite them by name.
- Ansel speaks first when it's time to plan your week or quarter. Say "Let's go" or "Not now".
- New sign-ups no longer fail on the first try.
Jot
- Jot for iPhone is in public beta. Join it on TestFlight to catch a thought in a second and find it on your desk.
Shared workspaces, sharing and two-way sync
Desk
- Shared workspaces: invite people, assign tasks and goals to each other, and see everyone's work in one place.
- Share a list or a goal with someone so they can edit or just view it, or turn on a link anyone can open.
- Share a whole desk, and @mention people in tasks, notes and comments.
- Invites arrive as letters on your desk, and a bell keeps track of who joined and what's new.
- Two-way sync with Asana, Todoist and ClickUp. Pick what to sync in Settings, under Connectors.
- Ansel can now work on your desk for you: open, move and tidy cards, and undo anything he did.
- The Cards menu holds only your cards. Everything else waits on the new card shelf, where you can take a card or put one back.
- Dates follow your own time zone everywhere, and the day pills start on your chosen first day of the week.
A clearer cookie notice
Desk
- The cookie notice and Cookie Policy now say that we measure page speed and errors to keep QTR working well. Still no ads.
Drag events on your schedule, and desks you save
Desk
- Move and resize calendar events on today's schedule, just like tasks. Overlapping items sit side by side, and all-day items get their own strip at the top.
- In the calendar's week view, drag a task to another time or day, or drag its bottom edge to make it longer.
- Reloading no longer flashes empty cards, and switching days or periods never shows the old one.
- Desks are now layouts you save. ⌘S saves, "Save as new desk" makes a copy, and QTR asks before you leave with unsaved changes.
- Cards can be hidden, snapped to the side, maximized and resized. Turn on the infinite canvas to pan and zoom.
- Undo and redo work for desk changes, with ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z.
Jot
- Tags you add in Jot show on the Jot card, and a jot with several tasks shows a checkbox for each.
Edit several tasks at once
Desk
- Select several tasks and change them together: when, time, goal, list, or delete them all.
- Click an event in your day's schedule to open its details.
- Shift-click and Cmd-click work in the Eisenhower matrix, and dragging one selected task brings the rest along.
- A goal card's list view now matches its map: deleted tasks stay deleted and new ones show up without a reload.
- A goal without a date is no longer marked overdue. It's due at the end of its period, so a "this quarter" goal reads "by Dec 31".
- New goals stay where they first appear instead of jumping around.
- In Ansel's console, /connectors replaces /integrations, and you can connect Google Calendar and Outlook from there too.
Repeating tasks fixed, and a notebook that reads like one document
Desk
- Repeating tasks work again on the desk. When you edit or delete one, QTR asks whether you mean just this one or every one.
- A task's details open right beside it, and fit on shorter windows.
- The goal menu on a task lists this quarter's goals first, with the rest one step away.
- The Asana card keeps its tasks after you pick a workspace, and you can narrow it to one project.
- The notebook formats Markdown as you type, and pasting a web page keeps its headings and lists.
- The notebook is now one continuous document. ⌘↵ ends a note, and typing / opens a menu of things to add.
- Select across several notes and edit them like one document, with Undo if you change your mind.
The new desk
Desk
- QTR now opens on a desk. Your goals, calendar, tasks and notes are cards you can lay out the way you like.
- On your first visit, Ansel gives you a short tour.
- Goal maps lay out each goal and its checkpoints as a mind map.
- Cards for your connected apps show their tasks, and you can open, tick and drag them like any other task.
- Select several tasks with Shift or Cmd and move them together.
- Notebook and Jot cards sit on the desk, so your notes are right next to your tasks.
- Sign-in has the new look, with the new red logo.
